Another meme

Hardback or paperback? Either.

Amazon or brick and mortar? Once again, either. Most of the time I'll prefer a store over Amazon, because I'm an instant gratification kind of gal. With Amazon though, it's a bit like present arriving in the mail.

Barnes & Noble or Borders? Borders, but that's only because B & N hasn't come to my city yet. When they do, oh boy, it will be B & N. Unless of course they suck.

Bookmark or dog-ear? I've been known to do both. In the same book mind you.

Alphabetize by author, alphabetize by title or random? I started to alphabetize by author, but it quickly went to random.

Keep, throw away, or sell? Keep. It's my collection, damn it.

Keep dust jacket or toss it? Toss it.

Read with dust jacket or remove it? See above.

Short story or novel? Novel.

Collection (by same author) or anthology (by different authors)? Collection.

Harry Potter or Lemony Snicket? Harry Potter.

Stop reading when tired or at chapter breaks? When tired.

‘It was a dark and stormy night’ or ‘Once upon a time’? 'It was a dark and stormy night'.

Buy or Borrow? Buy, see the last meme.

New or used? New, also in the last meme.

Buying choice: book reviews, recommendation or browse? All.

Tidy ending or cliffhanger? Cliffhanger. I like the thought that it may turn into a series.

Morning reading, afternoon reading or nighttime reading? Any time.

Standalone or series? Series. I like it when the characters live on.

Favorite series? I have so many.

Reading meme

What are you reading right now?

The Ghost Writer by John Harwood. Which I totally spoiled by skipping to the end (like I always do) and picking a random paragraph to read, just to see the slight direction it goes in. Well folks if you reads this book, don't do that. I totally ruined the end, but still I am going to finish this book just to see how it gets there.

Do you have any idea what you’ll read when you’re done with that?

I have about 7 books in my 'to be read' pile. So that means I'll probably buy some random book on Amazon just as I'm about to finish. If that doesn't happen, then I'm going to finish Graham Mastertons' Night Wars.

What magazines do you have in your bathroom right now?

None. But I use to have Vanity Fair. Although I do have some Japanese language printouts up there.

What’s the worst thing you were ever forced to read?

I don't remember anything that bad.

What’s the one book you always recommend to just about everyone?

The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova. I loved this book. I think it could hit every genre out there. There's a little tiny bit of romance, tons of mystery, and enough horror thrown in there for good measure. Not to mention, this story spans over centuries, AND this author knows her way with words.

Admit it, the librarians at your library know you on a first name basis, don’t they?

No, not really. I love new books, and this sounds wrong, I have a light aversion to used books. I love the feel of a brand new book in my hands, ones that I can break the spine.

Although, one of the librarians did marry my husband and I. So hopefully she does :-).

Is there a book you absolutely love, but for some reason, people never think it sounds interesting, or maybe they read it and don’t like it at all?

Honestly, I can't think of any. I suppose the Undead series by MaryJanice Davidson, but that's only if I go off of reviews. *shrugs*

Do you read books while you eat? While you bathe? While you watch movies or TV? While you listen to music? While you’re on the computer? While you’re having sex? While you’re driving?

Eat - no
Bathe - yes
Movies or tv - yes
Music - yes
Computer - yes
Sex - is never that boring ;-)
Driving - no

When you were little, did other children tease you about your reading habits?

Yes, and sometimes I still get teased, but not very often. And only by those who don't really know me.

What’s the last thing you stayed up half the night reading because it was so good you couldn’t put it down?

The Historian, and the Undead series, and many more.
