I think anyone here reading my blog knows that I just got promoted to being a processor. Knowing this, then I must tell you that much of my day is spent on the phone ordering various things such as payoffs, mortgage history, changing mortgagee clause, etc... More then half the time I get caught up in an endless loop of idiotic robots telling my to select 1 - infinity, when all I really need to do is speak with a human. Is there an option to speak with a customer service rep? Almost always never. So, I've began to learn some tricks to outwit the robots and go straight to a human. It's really quite simple, you stay quiet, and don't push any buttons. There are a few companies that will have the menu repeat several times spanning more then 10 minutes but eventually, you'll make it through. There has also been several occasions where the robot will become frustrated with me and hang up. Yes, it's actually happened. Luckily though, I've found This. It's a database of all the big corporations and ways to get directly to a human. No longer do you or I need to spend a half hour on the phone pressing buttons, praying that the telephone Gods will smile upon you and send you directly to where you need. No longer will the unbearable robotic voice tease you at a promise of getting what you want. We've got some control back!
