Go to: Applications > System Tools > Configuration Editor /apps/metacity/general/. Then, in button layout, you can change it to:

:minimize,maximize,close

Thanks occy.net for saving me a lot of heartache. While customizing my current theme to show nothing on the title bars, I was somehow disabling my windows manager :-X, when trying to get rid of those stupid menu icons. But as you can see in my previous post, everything is working now.
